    Abstract

Event synopsis: At present International Human Resource Management constitutes the clearly defined discipline from an Academic, Pedagogy and Practice perspective. It has already reached its maturity and deserves to take a critical look at its bases and achievements. We also believe that it is the right time to discuss possible areas of IHRM development. IHRM is under an increasing influence of modern information technology and globalization processes, which may be perceived as invariable factors affecting it. At the same time, IHRM is determined by the consequences of the crisis on the financial markets reflected in the global economy, and also in the work environment. This entails a question about the relevance of the contemporary paradigms in human resources management on the international markets and their adequacy in explaining problems that arise. One of the characteristic features of IHRM in the flattening world is the uncertainty associated with: the above mentioned doubts regarding the management paradigms in the emerging post-crisis world, the risk assigned to each of the HRM stakeholders, the imitativeness and innovativeness of the HRM strategies and methods, the clash of the approaches to diversified HR issues from the perspective of the centers and periphery of the world economy, and the changes of the values systems amid the young generation. The paradigm and context of IHRM shows that there are a number of challenges for the theory and practice of IHRM, which constitute an interesting area of research and academic discussion. Several areas and issues can be listed here: strategic IHRM, cultural perspective of IHRM, international assignments and expatriate management, HRM in cross-border strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, careers management from national and global perspective, talent management, leadership development, diversity management, ethics and corporate social responsibility in multinational environment. The main intention of the 13th IHRM Conference organizers is to create an opportunity to exchange views on the issues indicated above and other related to them. Another aim of the conference is to answer the question whether the researchers, academic teachers are ready to take up the above mentioned challenges and act as those who would further IHRM development as an academic discipline and improve its practical issues.
