It is my pleasure to announce, with both great excitement and the inevitable slight sadness, that as of January 2013, I will be leaving the University of Sussex (the inevitable slight sadness) to take a permanent position as a Lecturer in Literature at the University of Lincoln (the great excitement!)

I have had several excellent years at Sussex, where I started my Ph.D. in 2009, and have been treated extremely well throughout; my utmost thanks in particular to Peter and Doug, my supervisors. I have made many friends in the department, with whom I hope to stay in close contact. I have enjoyed both my research and my teaching at Sussex, where lively, engaged students have often stunned me with the breadth of their knowledge and the depth of their insight. The administrative staff have treated me with kindness in arranging teaching on a commute and have the utmost professionalism in all they do.

On the other hand, I am thrilled at the prospect of my new post and new life. I feel privileged to know that I will be working with fantastic colleagues – many of whom I already know – in a vibrant, active, socially engaged academic environment. I hope that my experience in American literature, contemporary fiction and LIS will enable me to bring this expertise to students while continuing my research projects. In fact, everything looks pretty exciting from where I'm sitting.

Here's to 2013 and beyond.
