Abstract
Reproduces an edited version of the 17th Gabriele Ganz Lecture given at the University of Southampton in October 2012 on the role of law in supporting or hindering the justice of the planning system. Reviews the development of environmental justice and spatial justice, and outlines the principles to which a just planning system should adhere. Assesses whether reforms to the UK planning system, especially the introduction of neighbourhood planning and the community infrastructure levy have enhanced its justice, and considers the planning law reforms needed to facilitate a more just approach.
