Abstract

A violência e a transgressão são assuntos que ocupam uma parte considerável do conteúdo veiculado nos meios de comunicação nesta passagem de século, embora quase sempre sejam vistas sob uma perspectiva superficial ou tenham seus sentidos limitados àqueles tipificados nos códigos penais. A semiótica da comunicação, também em sua vertente psicanalítica, vem oferecendo com freqüência perspectivas diversificadas para a análise desta questão, quase sempre em busca de um redimensionamento do problema em seus aspectos culturais mais amplos. É possível que a discussão a respeito da violência exibida na mídia, bem como de seus eventuais efeitos no comportamento das pessoas, tenha implicações perigosas, entre outras coisas, para a liberdade de criação e principalmente para a exibição das obras. O cinema, como outros produtos culturais, pode nos fornecer pistas quanto às origens desta violência que circula entre os sujeitos produtores e receptores de culturas a cada dia mais influenciadas mutuamente. A psicanálise, desde a sua origem, volta-se a esses sintomas e pretende também, como outras áreas do saber, dar sua contribuição ao debate. Neste trabalho, focalizo aquilo que considero um dos signos cinematográficos desta questão: a forma como a figura do pai é apresentada no cinema e as possíveis relações desta figura com a violência posta em cena em produções recentes. A razão deste recorte é que, na teoria psicanalítica, a figura paterna é aquela que sustenta a lei simbólica na cultura, o que equivale a dizer que a agressividade que se expressa no âmbito social como violência ou tentativa de superar ou transgredir o status quo, passa pela lei simbólica e, por conseqüência, pela figura paterna. No cinema, entendo que se encontra um dos lugares privilegiados de encenação dos conflitos sociais deste momento histórico, a exemplo do que fizera a literatura no século dezenove. ABSTRACT Violence and trespassing are subjects which make up a considerable part of the contents shown through the communication media by the the turn of this century. Most of the time these subjects are dealed with from a superficial perspective or one reduced to those typified in the criminal codes. Communication and also psychoanalytic semiotics have offered several perspectives for the analysis of this question, almost always searching for a way to bring in more dimensions to the problem, in its broadest cultural aspects. It is possible that the discussion about violence exibited through the media and its likely efects on human behaviour can lead to dangerous consequences for, among other things, the freedom of creation and exibition of the works. Cinema, like other cultural products, can give us hints about the origins of the violence around producers and expectators. Psychoanalysis, since its beginings, turns to these cultural symptoms and gives its contribution to the debate. In this work I focus on what I consider one of the emblems of this question which is found in the cinema: the way the caracter represented by the father is shown and its possible relatioships to the violence embedded in the recent cinematographic production. The reason fot this theoretical setting is that in psychoanalitic theory the fatherly figure is the one that bears the symbolic law in culture, what amounts to saying that the brutality expressed in the social context as violence or atempt to surmount/trespass the status quo, emerges out of the symbolic law and consequently out of the fatherly figure. In the cinema we find a privileged scenario for social conflicts in the present historical age as it used to be literature in the nineteenth century.
