Abstract

In the UK an independent institution, the Macroeconomic Modelling Bureau, is responsible for evaluating and monitoring the large macro-econometric models used for forecasting and policy analysis. This paper assesses the Bureau's record in model comparison, improving access to the models, methodological innovation and improving modelling standards.
