Abstract
Book synopsis: Das Konzept der Insularität kann wichtige Impulse für interdisziplinäre Forschungen zum Mittelmeerraum geben, weil es die spezifische »insulare« Dimension der Archipele und Inseln des »Mare Magnum« ins Zentrum der Betrachtung rückt. Der Begriff »Insularität« stammt eigentlich aus der Renaissance, blieb aber bis zu seiner Wiederentdeckung in der modernen Forschung weitgehend ungenutzt. Das mit ihm umschriebene wissenschaftliche Konzept ist eng verbunden mit der Frage nach spezifischen biologischen, ökonomischen, politischen, militärischen, kulturellen und religiösen Phänomenen auf Inseln, die gerade aus der Tatsache resultieren, dass Inseln komplett von Wasser umgeben und in ihren Ressourcen begrenzt sind. Bei näherer Betrachtung bedingen diese naturgegebenen Kriterien jedoch eine Vielfalt spezifischer Wege gerade im Mittelmeerraum, Insularität in Texten und Bildern zu konstruieren. | Additional Information: | Translated book synopsis: The concept of insularity can provide important stimuli for interdisciplinary research on the Mediterranean because it places the specific »insular« dimension of the archipelagos and islands of the »Mare Magnum« at the center of consideration. The term "insularity" actually dates back to the Renaissance, but remained largely untapped until its rediscovery in modern research. The scientific concept circumscribed with him is closely linked to the question of specific biological, economic, political, military, cultural and religious phenomena on islands, which result from the fact that islands are completely surrounded by water and limited in their resources.
