Abstract
Event synopsis: International visitors, UK researchers and curators visited Birkbeck on 7-8 November 2013 for the International Symposium on Picturing Latin America: Rethinking Film and Photographic Archives, an event organized for the Centre for Iberian and Latin American Visual Studies (CILAVS) by Luciana Martins and Diane Gabrysiak with the generous support of the Ostrovsky Family Fund. Participants included Maurizio Cinquegrani (Kent), Helouise Costa (USP), Laura González-Flores (UNAM), Maurício Lissovsky (UFRJ), Adrian Locke (Royal Academy of Arts), Katherine Manthorne (CUNY), Eduardo Morettin (USP), Louise Purbrick (Brighton), Erica Segre (Cambridge), Einion Thomas (Bangor) and Sarah Walpole (RAI).
