I thought it was time for a brief "state of the issue" post for the, no doubt voluminous, hordes awaiting the launch of Orbit: Writing Around Pynchon.
One review and six articles are now typeset and going into proofreading. A further review and note are in initial copyediting. Three commissioned reviews are expected in the very near future and these will go into copyediting and typesetting as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, on the bureaucracy front, the application for membership of the Open Access Scholarly Publishers Association is moving ahead. This will enable us to get the DOI numbers up and running on the articles through reduced CrossRef membership. I have also been having discussions with CLOCKSS about joining their archival scheme, thus preserving the journal for all time.
So, all in all, things are shaping up. Our CFP closed last November and I anticipate that we will be ready to go in June. For an initial issue, this isn't too shabby on the timing front. Once this first issue is down, we'll be moving to a rolling format so papers won't be waiting for others once they've been reviewed and typeset; they can go when ready.
Over and out, for now.
