I'm delighted to announce that I am joining the OAPEN-UK Steering Group, a great JISC project that is gathering evidence for the viability of Open Access monograph publication in the Humanities and Social Sciences. From their website:
OAPEN-UK is a collaborative research project gathering evidence to help stakeholders make informed decisions on the future of open access scholarly monograph publishing in the humanities and social sciences
OAPEN-UK will partner with publishers, research councils, authors, researchers and institutions in a practical, real time pilot that will gather a range of qualitative and quantitative data. The data will be evaluated to help stakeholders better understand the challenges and developments required to support open access scholarly monographs.
I was really excited to hear about their project at the UKSG conference in Glasgow and look forward to talking more about this at a later stage.
If you're a researcher, can I also ask (I have already tweeted this!) that you fill out the survey on researcher behaviour. It doesn't take long and is a crucial part of the research process for the future of the monograph and the challenges, and opportunities, brought by a digital medium.
