A Zombie!

To my great excitement, my initial proposal for the forthcoming book, Zombies in the Academy has been accepted! While it still has to undergo peer review and as such isn't guaranteed to be published, I'll certainly be doing my best to overcome that hurdle.

If you are interested, you can read my full proposal. My chapter is entitled "The Botnet: Webs of Hegemony/Zombies Who Publish" and uses a metaphor from the information security arena to explain the constraints under which researchers, libraries and publishers are operating, for the most part against themselves. I intend, in the working-through of this piece, to theorize an economically viable model for a transition to an upfront-payment gratis-provision Open Access model through subsidized support for early-career researchers in order to effect a paradigm shift.

In the meantime: BRAINS!
