Abstract
Event synopsis: Global Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and trade flows have had a transformative developmental impact in many countries. However, they pose many questions for national and regional policy making in a global market for FDI and in an increasingly integrated world economy in which production and value chains criss-cross national boundaries. At stake are jobs, technology and skills transfer, access to markets, and improved competitiveness. This two-day Investment Policy Global Workshop discussed emerging trends in international investment and experiences on how investment policies can be applied successfully in a changing economic environment to maximize the developmental impact of FDI on host economies. The workshop will bring together World Bank Group staff working on investment policy issues and selected clients from across the globe. External speakers from academia and other international organizations will be invited to join and interact with World Bank Group staff and provide their feedback and insights.
