Abstract
Book synopsis: This anthology indicates the many and multi-layered ways in which women’s movements have developed over the past and the challenges faced by women’s movements today. Covering a broad range of issues, the book strives for re-narration and re-location of one of the major social movements of the 20th century and fresh analysis of the latest trends. The anthology points to the importance of strategic generalisations of gender. The women’s movements are seen as forming a wide range of discoursive communities that have gradually unfolded at the global level during the 20th century. The volume invites readers to recognise the integrated nature of research, reflection and contextualisation and is a manifestation of the links between women’s movements and gender studies as well as the struggle of coming to terms with new challenges and new interpretations.
