Abstract
Recently several applied strands of work have converged to reinforce the need to deal with situational effects in assessment for selection or development. This study applies a paradigm based on concepts of how people deal with situations from recent work in cognitive psychology, socially situated cognition and personality. The study presents empirical results exploring how the encoding and decoding of events in situations interacts with personality style.
