Abstract
A painstakingly researched investigation on the rise and fall of the so-called "Chilean Way", the attempt by the 1970s popular coalition to bring major changes using the constitution and the law, interrupted by the 9/11/73 coup. The legal, political as well as technological aspects of this major historical event are the focus of this book, as well as its contemporary relevance. The book was shortlisted for the 2014 Bread & Roses Award for non-fiction writing with a critical perspective, reviewed favourably in the main press in the UK, the US and elsewhere, and selected by The Observer among its Books of the Year list. In October 2014, it made it to number eight in The Guardian's list of best-selling books.
