Abstract
This article discusses the efficiency of « demand policies » (in a broad sense) in fighting unemployment. While they may have positive effects on employment, they do not tackle the root problem of unemployment which is the existence of rents for incumbent workers and the associated low rate of job finding for the unemployed.
