Abstract
Book synopsis: A prolific writer as a novelist, poet, journalist and cultural analyst, Manuel Vázquez Montalbán (1939-2003) was also a pioneer in the field of studies on Spanish popular culture and historical memory. This collection of 16 original essays on the work of one of the leading intellectual figures in Spain over the past 40 years, represents a collective effort to assess its most important contributions in defining the culture of democratic Spain. The thread common to all articles is the exploration of the subject of individual and collective memory, the analysis of cultural memory and the recovery of larica, against the legacy of forgetting Francoism and the currents of globalization.
