Abstract
Book synopsis: International cultural policy can be traced back to the founding and development of relevant institutions. Today, the beginnings of the new institutions founded in Germany and France after the Second World War have already become history - such as those of the Deutsches Historisches Institut Paris, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2008. In order to trace the cultural and scientific relations between Germany and France in the 20th century, contributions from German and French researchers have been compiled in this volume, which shed light on the specific position of these institutions. The peculiarity of the various institutions is presented, with similarities and differences that have emerged between the two countries, but also nationally through system and policy changes, are particularly revealing.
