    Abstract

Book synopsis: This work covers three areas in Polish studies: language; literature; and cultural mythology. It considers the significance of well-masked Polish religious and sexual prejudices and their cultural implications, and artistic reactions to forced ideological concepts. It also discusses the importance of gender and various ethnic groups in creating the cultural landscape. Some essays deal with subjects that are not conventionally associated with Poland, for example, the Protestant religion, and homosexuality.
