    Abstract

Book synopsis: Few judges have done more than the Rt. Hon. Lord Justice Wall to promote good practice in the area of expert evidence in UK Children Act cases. A Handbook for Expert Witnesses in Children Act Cases provides practical advice and guidance for expert witnesses who need to prepare reports and give evidence in proceedings under the UK's Children Act 1989. This second edition of the handbook is fully updated and explains the way in which the courts, when hearing proceedings relating to children, approach expert evidence. It dispels misunderstandings and allows doctors and other health professionals to be aware of and understand the important legal developments which have been taking place. This essential guide brings together advice and comment on the role of the expert and the judge, the general duties of expert witnesses, how to prepare reports, and how to give evidence in child proceedings.
