Abstract
This piece is a reflection on a practice of mediation and peace-building. It seeks to introduce the idea of aesthetic justice and the retro-performative force of a dialogical situation as crucial to a different understanding of novel and challenging practical processes of mediation and negotiation such as the one that has taken place between Colombia's government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, with a view to not only put a stop to the decades-long civil war in the country, but also to aim at a "real transformation" of the exclusionary and oppressive experiences of its victims and a perspectival shift vis-a-vis the conflict, the historical asymmetry of the social relations in this conflict situation, the historically contingent claims of the victims and those of perpetrators.
