Abstract
The Wobum Sands Formation is Aptian to Albian in age and forms part of the lower Greensand Group, which crops out in the Weald Basin, East Anglia and the Isle of Wight. The sands are thought to have accumulated in a narrow tidal seaway connecting the Boreal Sea to the Tethys Ocean and early North Atlantic Ocean. Here I present new information on the geometry and internal character of large sedimentary structures exposed in sand pits near Leighton Buzzard, which have been imaged using ground–penetrating radar.
