    Abstract

This illustrated story stems from a collaboration between Sarah Turnbull (Birkbeck, University of London) and Joanne Vincett (The Open University) with artist Gabi Froden (gabifroden.com) drawing on separate ethnographic research undertaken by Sarah and Joanne at Yarl's Wood Immigration Removal Centre. The story focuses on the practice of origami (paper folding) as one way that those who are detained indefinitely cope with and resist detention. Generously supported by the Research Innovation Fund and from alumni and friends of Birkbeck, University of London.
