Abstract
Future Research Excellence Framework cycles could demand compliance with the open access initiative Plan S, according to one expert who expects Research England to mandate the universities it funds. Speaking at Research Professional News’s RP Live event in London on 5 February, Plan S ambassador and Birkbeck College, University of London, professor Martin Eve said some publishers are resistant to the idea of transitioning towards open access under the Plan S initiative, because they do not know how much of their research is funded by Plan S-compliant funders.
