Abstract
This study of the link between theory and politics in the poetic practice of Christophe Hanna, Nathalie Quintane and Jean-Marie Gleize, offers historical, cultural, literary and philosophical contexts to their most recent works. The article considers the interest of these three writers for 19th century revolutionary socialism and anarcho-syndicalism, as well as the ways in which the figures of Auguste Blanqui and Émile Pouget informs their understanding of early 21st century France. It takes into consideration the social unrest and governmental repression, the symbolism of the Tarnac affair, the treatment of zadistes, refugees, and of those who threaten the status quo. Moreover, this article suggests ways of interpreting their poetic practice through the philosophies of Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari, as well as through the works of William Burroughs. This study shows that modes of literary resistance to the “control society” is possible.
