    Abstract

The 2010 general election defeat of Gordon Brown's administration and the return of Labour to opposition make the present time an appropriate point at which to reflect on the party's record in office since 1997. Eric Shaw's research monograph Losing Labour's Soul? offers a detailed account of the administrations so dominated by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown after the party's landslide victory in May 1997. In this symposium, Mark Wickham-Jones, John Kelly and Jenny Andersson dissect Shaw's analysis in turn. Finally, Eric Shaw offers a response to their comments.
