Abstract
The CJLACS makes an important contribution to furthering knowledge about these regions in Canada and around the world. It offers scholars, graduate students, and independent researchers a Canadian venue for publishing their work. It publishes peer-reviewed articles based on original research, in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish. It is indexed in: America: History and Life; Ausgewahlte Neuere Literatur; Dokamentationsdient Lateinamerika; Geographical Abstracts; The Handbook of Latin American Studies; The Hispanic American Periodicals Index; Historical Abstracts; International Bibliography of the Social Sciences; PAIS Bulletin; Sociological Abstracts; Worldwide Political Science Abstracts. The CJLACS is published three times each year by Routledge, Taylor and Francis. Each issue of the Journal contains several articles as well as reviews of recent publications about Latin America and the Caribbean. Its publication is normally made possible in part by a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. Interested persons are invited to submit articles, reviews, or books for review.
