    Abstract

Translated book synopsis: The publication collects the contributions of the international symposium held in Macerata from 26 to 29 September 2007 on the school notebook in the contemporary age, seen both as a fundamental aid to teaching and as a unique source for exploring the culture of the school and the approach to training in a specific historical context. The notebooks can tell us a lot about the history of school and education, about teaching methods and the language, about the educational projects and policies that the various national states tried to implement during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
