Abstract
Focusing on cultural and political discourses, this article analyses the return to Catalonia of Republican exile after the end of the Francoist dictatorship in 1975. It explores how the Catalan case differs substantially from the better known of the Spanish state, and argues for the need to look closer at the minority nations of Spain for a more complex understanding of the exiles return to their places of origins and of how it was socially and politically constructed.
