Abstract
This chapter argues against demographic approaches for understanding population ageing and development. It will argue for a critical, decolonial, sociology of ageing in order to understand how ageing is differently produced. Through this, we can counter the reproduction of ageism now embedded in Western knowledge production and deepen social solidarity.
