Abstract
This chapter investigates the energy transition from a fossil fuel-dependent system to a zero-carbon economy within the context of climate justice. It discusses the challenges faced by the Global North and South, represented respectively by the EU and China and Mauritius, in mitigating and adapting to the impacts of climate change. The paper argues for a ‘just transition’ that considers distributional and procedural justice while comprehensively addressing environmental, social, and economic impacts across energy value chains.
