Abstract
Book synopsis: Millions of Europeans were uprooted by flight, resettlement, deportation or evacuation during and after the Second World War. This volume of essays examines population movements, both forced and voluntary, within the broader context of Europe in the aftermath of war. Essays bring together displacement in Western and Eastern Europe, including Germany, Russia, Poland, Greece, Italy, Israel, and Britain. The authors bring to life problems of war and post-war chaos, and assess lasting social, political and demographic consequences.
