Abstract
Book synopsis: Millions of Europeans were uprooted by flight, resettlement, deportation or evacuation during and after the Second World War. This volume of essays examines both forced and voluntary population movements within the broader context of Europe in the aftermath of war and addresses displacement in East and West, including Germany, Russia, Poland, Greece, Italy, Israel and Britain. The authors bring to life problems of war and post-war chaos and assess the lasting social, political and demographic consequences.
